Use Levitra (vardenafil) exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take a smaller or larger dose that recommended. You can take the tablets with or without food.
The initial dose is usually 10mg a day. The dose may be increased to 20mg or reduced to 5mg depending on a patient’s tolerability and effectiveness. Patients on a stable alpha blocker and those over the age of 65 take 5mg.
Levitra is usually taken at least 60 minutes before any sexual activity. You will achieve an erection when sexually stimulated; 30 to 60 minutes after taking the tablet. The drug remains active for up to four hours. Do not take more than one dose a day.

Levitra (vardenafil) is not indicated for use in women. However, it is not expected to cause any harm to an unborn baby. It is also unknown if the medicine can pass into breast milk and harm a breastfeeding baby.

If your erection lasts for more than 4 hours or if you experience a painful erection, contact your doctor immediately. A prolonged erection can damage your penis.
If you experience dizziness, nausea, numbness, pain or tingling in the chest, arms, neck or jaw during sexual activity, stop immediately and seek emergency medical help. These are early signs of an impending serious health problem or severe side effects.
Patients over the age of 50 and those who smoke are more likely to experience severe side effects.
