Description
The Aripiprazole is an antipsychotic drug. It is prescribed to treat the symptoms of such psychotic conditions as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The drug is also used in combination with other medicines to treat major depressive disorders. To ensure the safe use of Aripiprazole, let your doctor know if you suffer or have a history of any of the following conditions:

If you suffer from diabetes, let your doctor know before you start using the oral solution which contains 15 grams of sugar per dose. Aripiprazole may also cause high blood sugar. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of hyperglycemia (increased urination or thirst, excessive hunger or weakness). Always check the blood sugar levels regularly if you are diabetic.
Only use Aripiprazole with a prescription. The dose may be changed from time to time by your doctor to achieve the best results. You should not use this drug for a period longer than six weeks unless you are advised by your doctor. You can take the medicine with food or without.
Measure the oral solution using a dose-measuring spoon or a medicine cup. For the orally disintegrating tablet, you should keep the tablet in its pack until you are ready to take it. Use dry hands to handle the tablet. Allow the tablet to dissolve in the mouth before swallowing. Do not chew.

It is unknown if Aripiprazole can cause harm to an unborn baby. However, taking the drug in the last three months of your pregnancy can cause problems such as feeding problems, tremors, stiff muscles, withdrawal symptoms and fussiness. You should let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant during treatment. Aripiprazole can pass into the breast milk and can cause harm to a breastfeeding baby.
Store at room temperature and away from heat and moisture. The oral solution can be used for up to 6 months after being opened.
