Description
Beclomethasone Dipropionate is a steroid used to prevent the release of substances that cause inflammation in the body. The drug is prescribed to prevent asthma attacks. It is used as a long term prevention of bronchospasm in asthma patients. This drug should not be given to treat nonasthematic bronchitis. It will also not treat an asthma attack that has already started.
Uses of Beclomethasone Dipropionate
· Asthma: it is used for long-term prevention of bronchospasm in persons with asthma.
· Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Use on patients who are stabilized with the oral corticosteroid or those whose problem is corticosteroid responsive
· GI tract inflammation. Used as a rectal suspension or oral solution.

To ensure the safe use of Beclomethasone Dipropionate, enlighten your doctor regarding your medical history as well as the drugs you are taking. Your doctor should especially know if you have a history of tuberculosis. You may not be able to use the drug until you recover fully.
Beclomethasone Dipropionate should be used exactly as prescribed. The dose may be adjusted occasionally to achieve better results. The dose has a patient’s instructions. Follow the instructions keenly. For the first use of the drug, prime the inhaler by pumping two test sprays in the air. You should do the same if the inhaler hasn’t been used in 10 days.
To prevent yeast infections, always rinse your mouth with water after using the inhaler. Never wash the inhaler device. Wipe it clean with a dry piece of cloth or tissue. You should keep track of the number of sprays you have used and get a refill when you are nearing the limit. With some inhalers, you have to discard them after 50 sprays whereas others can be used for up to 120 sprays. The Beclomethasone Dipropionate oral aerosol releases 50 or 100 mcg.
Contact your doctor if you feel the medication is not working. You should also use all the other prescribed medications to treat asthma.

It is unknown if Beclomethasone Dipropionate can harm an unborn baby or a breastfeeding one. All in all, Beclomethasone inhalation can pass into your breast milk and can harm a breastfeeding baby. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or nursing a baby. This drug should not be given to person under the age of 5 years.
